EATING HABITS
In our busy world, very few of us take time to eat. You read it right - we just don’t take time to eat!
We eat while we read the mail, we eat while we watch our favorite shows on television, we eat while we work, we even eat at the movies (and it’s always good healthy fuel for our body engines at the movies, right? WRONG!).
The first thing you must resolve to do is TAKE TIME FOR EATING. That means that when you eat, you eat. By doing this simple thing you immediately control your intake. Have you ever eaten a whole package of cookies (without even knowing it) while you watched your favorite T.V. program? When that happens, we all feel guilty, we all wonder what happened and sadly we all don’t even realize what we put into our mouths - we just put it in, chew it up, put it in, chew it up...
Plan your meals so you can eat and only eat. Don’t snack from a plate of cookies, snack from ONE cookie. The eating habits we have all “grown into” are just that - habits. They rarely have anything to do with our “body” needs, they have everything to do with our “habit” needs.
At first, it may seem difficult, but you can and will change your “bad” eating habits into “good” eating habits and you’ll feel better in the process.
Eat SLOWLY. This doesn’t mean that meals have to take all day, it means that you don’t put anything else in your mouth until the last mouthful is chewed up and swallowed. A great exercise here is to put your fork (or spoon) down between each bite, savor the food, enjoy the food, chew the food and swallow the food. Crazy as it sounds, very few of us really enjoy eating; fact is very few of us even taste our food - we just shovel it in!
When you are done eating, BE DONE. Stop, and get away from the food. Sitting and “piecing” seems to be the favorite human pastime. Just make up your mind to stop eating when you are finished. It takes the stomach about 15 - 20 minutes to let the brain know that it is full. If it only takes 10 minutes to eat, give yourself the other 10 minutes to let your body do its work - you’ll be amazed at how you feel. We’ll say it again: When you are done eating, BE DONE.
Don’t refill your plate or overfill it the first time. No matter how “little” it may seem, take small portions, eat them slowly and then be done. ALWAYS resist the temptation to take “just a little more” — you (and your stomach) don’t need it.
REMEMBER: YOU’RE THE BOSS!
The End Game Diet – Improving Your Lifestyle
The End Game Diet is the “how-to” manual for improving one’s lifestyle. Changing a lifestyle takes effort and dedication. This book not only shows “how-to” but also gives constant encouragement by reminding you that “You are the boss” and “You are in control”. By following the guidelines given, anyone can improve their lifestyle and start to feel healthier within a few weeks. The End Game Diet is much more than a diet. Says Joanne Archbold: “This diet has increased our energy and our enthusiasm for living. I shouldn’t have called The End Game Diet a ‘diet’ because it is more of an ‘approach to life’ that gets unwanted weight off and keeps it off!”
Medical doctors, nutritionists, and athletic trainers feel confident that this diet is a guide with clear and specific instructions to keep people away from illness and other unpleasant aspects associated with being overweight. As Dr. Michael Darnell, an orthopedic surgeon says in his review of The End Game Diet, “As a physician counseling people every day on their myriad of complaints in my orthopedic practice, a majority of their problems are weight-related. In this book are the principles that I teach. They are in written form, and in a concise and clear manner that is easy to understand and apply. Anyone following the easy guidelines contained in this manual regarding diet and exercise can lose weight in a healthy and consistent way. The ultimate benefits of developing this lifestyle are innumerable and will benefit anyone wanting to lose 10, 20, 50 or more pounds and keeping them off."
